We understand that players play football for different reasons. Some just want to play with friends while others are focused on becoming great football players and want to play at their highest possible level.
This trial is for players wanting to play at the highest level even if it means not playing with their friends.
WHY?
Development is a journey and players go through it at different paces and times: today's abilities are not representative of someone's future ones.
There are several factors that contribute to becoming a great player such as passion, hard work, resilience, and many more. Being able to train in an environment where players are challenged and can make mistakes while learning from them is a key one.
If a player trains and plays at a level too hard for them, they could think they are too behind others and this could break their confidence and motivation. If a player plays in a division lower than their ability they may think that they have arrived, and stop challenging themselves. This could delay their development.
WHO WE TRIAL
We understand that players play football for different reasons. Some just want to play with friends while others are focused on becoming great football players and want to play at their highest possible level.
This trial is for players wanting to play at the highest level even if it means not playing with their friends.
HOW WE TRIAL
The FFA National Curriculum identified four core skills players should focus on while developing:

-
First touch
-
Striking the ball
-
Running with the ball
-
1v1

Our grading sessions will evaluate the player's current abilities in these key areas.
TRIAL DAY
A series of drills and game situations will be presented to players and a team of Belmore coaches will evaluate the players.
AFTER TRIAL
Belmore F.C. will create teams with players with similar current abilities and inform the players. For all the reasons mentioned before, we strongly recommend a player plays in the assessed division.

If, against ours and Football Australia's recommendation, a player still prefers to play with existing friends, we will try to accommodate that but the division played could differ a lot from the player's current abilities.
